Circle Chairs by Hans Wegner

Born in southern Denmark, Hans Wegner would become one of the prolific furniture designers not only of Denmark but of the whole world. His designs brought about the popularity of Danish Modernist movement of the 1950s. Not only his designs were pleasing to the eye but also known for its functionality. He together with other Danish furniture designers have perfected the art of furniture making, that is, combining beauty with purpose. By the time he died, he had designed more than 300 types of chairs; all have simple and impeccable craftsmanship. His idea of combining craft with industrial design has sparked many to follow his lead, providing them with an inspiration that would become time-tested.

A revival of this movement can be most often seen in signature hotels where a circle lounge chair is strategically placed in patios, terraces and near the pool areas. These comfortable innovated types of circle chairs are the perfect the perfect companions when you want to just relax, read a book or even lounge around. These circle chairs are comfortable, cozy and inviting. Built as outdoor furniture, these circle chairs as with all other Wegner-designed furniture has been created to stand the test of time and to last for the generations to come to enjoy.
The PP130 Circle Chair was evidence that Wegner, who already had a longstanding successful career, still had had the enthusiasm and ability to create innovative designs. As part of his tradition, he maintained that this type chair be created in wood, native to his homeland. This particular chair is an experiment that became a success in the market.

Dating back in 1986 when it was introduced in the SE Exhibition, this exceptional piece of furniture can only be created by a special machine. At first Wegner thought it was impossible to manufacture this kind in wood because of its design. Only the best could create this and this took the likes of master craftsman, Søren Holst Pedersen, and master journeyman, Henry Fisker, to produce such original work of art. The main elements used in this chair design are solid oak and plaited flag lines.

Sometimes called the hoop chair, this chair was designed in 1985. Since Wegner, in his later years had been associated with the furniture giant, PP Møbler, these chairs are now available through the Møbler stores and stores associated with them worldwide.

Because of its design, it is easy to move the chairs in a circle, when you would want it in your garden due to its rolling legs. Its wide sides and deep seat is suitable when chairs are arranged in such a way that it becomes a circle of chairs.
